"Death of An Aged Lady - Mrs. Mary Agnes Groves died last evening at
six o'clock at the residence of Mr. Nelson Long, 29 Oldtown Road, where
the deceased had made her home for many years. Mrs. Groves was the
widow of Mr. Andrew Groves, who died in this city some 25 years ago.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harry E. Groves, this
city; Mrs. Michael Shannon, Virginia avenue; Mrs. Gooch Pack, Colorado
Springs. Mrs Groves was a woman of the kindliest disposition, a
generous, good neighbor, and a devout, consistent Christian. Some 18
years ago when Mrs. Nelson Long died leaving a husband and five small
children, Mrs. Groves took charge of the Long household, and with
motherly care looked after the little children until they grew up.
These circumstances and a continual mutual kindness of many years make
the death of Mrs. Groves a matter of the deepest sorrow in the Long
house and in the immediate neighborhood. Deceased had been ill since
last July. She was a native of Hollidaysburg, PA., and came from that
place here with her husband when they were both quite young. The funeral
arrangements have not yet been made."
