Forum on Authenticity
This page (and linked pages) are for the reenactor who wants to improve his impression. As pointed out at a recent meeting by some old hands, it was not that long ago that the first reenactors took to the fields armed with inaccurate weapons and clothing. I have it on good authority that Sears work clothes with a kepi and a war surplus M1 Garand were not all that uncommon.
To this day, inaccuracy is a curse among some troops (commonly known as Farbs) and must me constantly corrected. Tons of brass on hats, polyester, Bowie knives and a host of other articles haunt us and make us cringe in fear.
In this forum, we will attempt to keep running commentary on items that need improvement and even supply tips on how to look better when in the field. We are Reenactors and we owe it to ourselves and the viewing public to put on a correct image when possible.
