Here is an example of two different patterns of 8 strands. The green/red braid is made with crochet thread and the red/white one is made from cotton embroidery floss. |

The two braids on the right are the same 8 strand flat braid pattern. The red/white braid is made from cotton embroidery floss and the blue/white one is made from #3 perle cotton. The braids on the left are oval, also an 8 strand. The black, red & white one is made of #5 perle cotton using more strands than the blue & white one, which is made of #3 Perle cotton. |
