Anegada evolved from Independent
Variables, a band created for a one-time gig that had so much fun playing
together that we continued on for almost two years.
Independent Variables was a seven-piece band composed entirely of
musicians who also were professional counselors.
Many of the members were graduate students, however, and as they
graduated and moved away to take real jobs, the band was reduced to its core of James
Benshoff and Leslie Armeniox. During
early Spring 2000, they reformed the band as Anegada, adding Scott
Wetter on guitar and vocals and William von der Goltz on percussion.
In late 2000, Bill Campbell joined as bass player and vocalist.
Randy Watts sat in to play sax on one of our gigs in Spring 2001
and was added to the band permanently (“he passed the audition”).
In November 2001, Scott Wetter moved on to other pursuits, and James
and Bill took over sharing part-time guitar duties.
As a band, we enjoy performing together and our enthusiasm for working together and playing our unique brand of music comes across when we’re on stage. While we’re constantly adding to our repertoire, our live performances also have an improvisational aspect to them, and we never play a song exactly the same way twice. We believe that our musical repertoire and our blend of rock, jazz, folk, and Latin musical influences enable us to offer our audiences a unique listening experience. Please sample the song demos on our website, then come hear us perform—and experience Anegada for yourself!
